E-Class Coupe spotted again in Germany – with almost no camo

We’re only a few months away from the Geneva Auto Show, where the E-Class Coupe is supposed to be revealed, but we are being bombarded by the newest spy shots of the upcoming Coupe. Yesterday spy photographers spotted a test vehicle in Wales, and today we get spy shots of another test vehicle, this time in Germany. This latest shot spots even less camo and is almost fully visible; the only thing covered are the head and taillights. This shot also clearly shows the resemblance to the current CL; I guess we have another name for it then – the baby CL. Autoblog.it via Jalopnik

E-Class Coupe test-mule spotted on UK roads

Spy shots of new Mercedes-Benz models just keep popping up. Just yesterday we got a glimpse at the next-gen CLS, and this morning we get to see numerous spy shots of the new E-Class Coupe, aka CLK, which should go on sale sometimes next year. Spy photographers spotted the test mule on UK roads, and did not hesitate to capture some great shots of the right-hand-drive Coupe in Llandudno, Wales. As we’ve already discussed in the past, the new Coupe front-end will be based on the Concept Fascination; the pillar-less side is very reminiscent to the current CL-Class. Autocar also reports that higher-end cupes will get LED daytime running lights,… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz dropping the CLK and CL names

If our friends over at Auto-Motor-und-Sport have it right, then Mercedes-Benz will be changing its naming convention for convertibles and coupes in the near future. The CLK will be the first to go and be replaced by names such as E-Class Convertible and Coupe in 2009. It’s said that Mercedes will expend this strategy to the other models as well, so that at the end of 2009, the CL name will be gone and replaced by the S-Class Coupe. Now this of course may come as a shock to some people, but if we go back a decade, we will see that Mercedes actually used such names to describe their… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz to reveal CLK Shooting Brake Concept in Paris

Carscoop is reporting that Mercedes-Benz is prepping a concept car called the CLK Shooting Brake for the Paris Auto Show. As they put it, it will be a sporty three-door model with an elongated rear-end. This will essentially be a first look at how the next-gen CLK will look like when it comes out in 2009. There is a rumor that Mercedes might actually produce a watered-down version of the shooting brake, so far, the only thing that we are sure of is that a coupe and convertable version will make it to the 2009 market. Accoring to Carscoop and its sources, we should see first official images and specs… Continue Reading »
