A press release by Daimler revealed that Mercedes-Benz sold around 94,895 units in January. The figure was 9.2% more than the overall sales of the automaker in the same month last year. Daimler attributes the increase to the rebound of its operations in China. There was a 15.4% gain in the Chinese market alone as compared to January 2012, which translates to 16,695 units sold. Next to China is North America where the sales scored 24,783 units, which is around 10% more than January last year. A video showing the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA with the AMG kit being driven on the streets of Barcelona emerged recently. The Mercedes-Benz CLA 180 features a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder turbo-charged gasoline engine that produces 122HP (90kW) and 147 lb-ft (200nM) of torque. This entry-level sedan also has a six-speed manual gearbox that can go from 0 to 62 mph or 0 to 100 km/h in within 9.3 seconds. The Kecskemét plant of Mercedes-Benz rolled out the first Mercedes-Benz CLA recently around ten months after the plant was opened. The occasion saw the prime minister of Hungary, Victor Orbán, in attendance along with the Mercedes-Benz Cars head and Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler, Dr. Dieter Zetsche. Based on a report by The Hindu Business Line, Mercedes-Benz India will be entering the premium segment with the A-Class this coming summer. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, said that although it would be the first time for the A-Class to hit the Indian market, it would be the refreshed version of the model.
