Every fan of four wheels and an engine has a hidden desire to own, or at least drive, a Mercedes-Benz. Admit it, you’re one of those millions who’ll gladly give up your pony in exchange for some fine German-engineered piece of hardware, most especially so if it’s an S-Class. Well, then hows about an AMG version of the S-Class. Or better yet, in its latest, yet-to-debut form. The S-Class CL is no more, folks. Meet the up-and-coming S-Class Coupe. It’s Mercedes-Benz’s top-of-the-line full-bodied two-door coupe with a twist of AMG magic. And by that, we don’t mean no fantasy performance specs either. This is the real deal folks, and if… Continue Reading »

For carmakers, with every new model comes hope of inspiring fans and customers alike. Such has always been the case with Mercedes-Benz, the company that never ceases to bring about great changes with their premium vehicles. True enough, their next project is the upgraded version of their C216 CL model. You may have heard back in August 2008 about prototypes of the next CL being tested in Germany. Well, they’re true, and if you’ve seen the spyshots during that time you would have seen the AMG version of it. And by the way, the new CL won’t be called as such. Instead, it’ll be renamed as the S-Class Coupe. Ring… Continue Reading »
This year Mercedes-Benz is celebrating the one hundredth birthday of the Mercedes three-pointed star and the Benz emblem with a particularly exclusive edition of the CL Coupe. This anniversary model shines with an extensive package of appointments and exquisite details. These include an elegant paint finish from the designo collection, a new AMG Sports package, top-class leather, black piano lacquer trim and beautifully executed emblems of the original trademarks inset into the centre console. These are accurate reproductions of the emblems that Daimler Motorengesellschaft and Benz & Cie registered as trademarks one hundred years ago, forming the basis for the Mercedes star. With this special edition, Mercedes-Benz is adding even… Continue Reading »
Those oil rich sheiks have nothing better to do but spend their fortune on exotic cars. That of course is not enough for some, which is where the tuning companies come in. MyCar is one of those tuning companies that will do anything for the right price, which is exactly what happened when a rich Saudi man wanted his S550 to look like a CL550. MyCar took the front of a CL550 and basically transplanted it on to the S550, creating a new offspring, the CS500. They definitely deserve props for a job well done.
Mercedes-Benz has some serious issues with models being leaked weeks if not months before they are officially announced. Today, courtesy of Autoblog.nl, we are get to see what the next-gen CLK or E-Class Coupe will look like. Even though, we have seen almost totally undisguised images of the Coupe, this is the first time that press photos have been published. The coupe is very similar to the new E-Class released at NAIAS last week, but it also borrows heavily from the CL, making it a prefect and affordable coupe.
If our friends over at Auto-Motor-und-Sport have it right, then Mercedes-Benz will be changing its naming convention for convertibles and coupes in the near future. The CLK will be the first to go and be replaced by names such as E-Class Convertible and Coupe in 2009. It’s said that Mercedes will expend this strategy to the other models as well, so that at the end of 2009, the CL name will be gone and replaced by the S-Class Coupe. Now this of course may come as a shock to some people, but if we go back a decade, we will see that Mercedes actually used such names to describe their… Continue Reading »
Our friend, Richard Truesdell from Automotive Traveler, came across test vehicles of what appears to be AMG versions of the 2009 S-Class and CL-Class. As of now, the only evolutionary changes that we can spot is the front fascia. The lack of camo gives might be a hint that these vehicles are on their final test run for a mid-cycle refresh for 2009. Just as Rich stated, we might be moments away from an official word from Stuttgart, introducing both the S and CL face lifted 2009 model. Check out the entire gallery at Automotive Traveler
