Car2Go program to expand starting with 60 additional charging stations

Stuttgart officials have officially announced the launch of Smart’s Car2Go program to be in 2012. The program will begin with 200 Smart electric drive vehicles to be stationed for operation in Mercedes-Benz’s home country, Germany. Word comes from Stuttgart’s Lord Mayor himself, Wolfgang Schuster, acknowledges the benefits that the program will nevertheless bring to the city. Daimler AG’s Car2Go program had already proved itself in test runs held in both Hamburg and Ulm in Germany. car2go announced on Tuesday that Vancouver, British Columbia, is the first Canadian city selected to launch its innovative mobility service. A newly created company, car2go Canada Ltd., a subsidiary of Daimler North America Corporation, will also be located in Vancouver. To keep ahead of the competition, Daimler has just announced the expansion of its car2go car sharing program in Amsterdam this week. car2go is starting operations in Hamburg, Germany

car2go launched in the first city with more than a million inhabitants. car2go is starting operations in Hamburg with 300 new “car2go edition” smart fortwo. The operator is car2go Hamburg GmbH, a joint venture between the Daimler subsidiary car2go GmbH and Europcar Autovermietung GmbH. The initial area of operation will cover the 65 square kilometres within “Ring 2″. Car2go a Big Hit, Set to Expand

The car2go car-sharing program seems to be gaining traction in the United States after just a shade over a year since its introduction in Austin, Texas. Parent company Daimler is highly satisfied with the results, and has now decided to expand the coverage of the program and expand its fleet by adding another 100 vehicles. Mercedes-Benz F-CELL World Drive: From New Orleans to San Antonio

The seventh leg of the F-CELL World Drive led the vehicles from New Orleans in Louisiana over a distance of more than 1.070 kilometers to San Antonio, Texas.
