After a dry spell following his third-place finish in Bahrain, Lewis Hamilton finally gets back to the podium. The former Formula One Drivers Champion just finished third in the recently concluded Canadian Grand Prix while his teammate, George Russell, ended fourth. Hamilton appeared elated at the results of the race, which was the complete opposite of his demeanor early on. Lewis Hamilton continues his winning ways as he once again bags the victory at the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix this Sunday. However, the Mercedes driver’s triumph was marred by controversy. It was Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel who crossed the checkered flag first. However, the German was penalized by the stewards for 5 seconds. The sanction was enough to propel Hamilton to the top. The penalty stemmed from Lap 48 of 70 when the leading Vettel was pressured by Hamilton. As a result, the Ferrari driver got his tires on the grass at the Turn 3-4 chicane. The Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team just had an amazing weekend. First, the drivers of Mercedes F1 team both dominated the event with a 1-2 finish. The race in Canada marked the 56th career win of Lewis Hamilton. The event was also where the Briton got his fourth Grand Slam victory for claiming the pole position during qualifying, having the fastest lap plus leading every lap in the race, and eventually emerging triumphant in the end. It took seven Grands Prix before anyone else was able to claim a victory, and Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo was as good a bet as any to break the Mercedes AMG Petronas win streak. Ricciardo claimed his maiden GP win by overtaking the struggling Mercedes of Nico Rosberg with only three laps remaining in the 2014 Canadian Grand Prix, and the Australian driver never looked back. After an amazing run in the Monaco Grand Prix with Nico Rosberg bagging the victory, Lewis Hamilton believes that the Mercedes Team can do it again in the Canadian circuit. BBC Sport pointed out that Rosberg only won the Monaco race because he was able to control the pace.
