WIMMER RS presents Stage 3 C63 Perf Kit

Mercedes AMG C63 7 597x398 WIMMER RS presents Stage 3 C63 Perf Kit

German tuners just can’t keep from adding horses to their favorite client’s cars. For them, the more powerful your engine is, the happier you are and they happier they’ll be, sales aside. Today’s tuner under the limelight is WIIMMER RS, with their Level 3 Performance Kit for the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. (This model gets a lot of tuner attention, doesn’t it?) In a nutshell, the C63′s 6.3-liter V8 gets bumped up to 580hp and 690Nm torque, from its previous output of 457hp and 600Nm.

Sounds like a great deal of boost, ain’t it? It took a great deal of planning and testing to add 120 horses to the C63′s already feisty naturally aspirated V8. This includes upgrading the ECU program, a K&N high-performance air filter, reworking the air induction design, a sports exhaust catalyst and a stainless steel sports cat-back system.

Of course, WIMMER had to electronically limit the car’s speed at 305kmh or 190mph. They’re not exactly interested in dealing with the legal ramifications just in case clients are unable to handle all the power and then get themselves killed in the process. Still, 190mph is tremendously fast, so we advice you not to attempt it—ever.

Optional add-ons include a KW-Club Sport Suspension system and Dunlop’s high-performance Sport Maxx GT rubbers. If you’ve got them cash, we suggest you avail these as well.

The Renntech C74 Performance Package unleashed

Germany’s not the only country with its pool of talented Mercedes-Benz tuners. One of the best MB tuners in America, Renntech, now offers their latest take on the C63 AMG.

They call it the Renntech C74. The modification package includes upgrading the stock 6.2-liter V8 to churn out 605hp and 555lb-ft. This means the quarter mile run will take merely 11.4 seconds, while top speed is pegged at around 204mph. Lots of credits for the power improvement go out to Renntech’s carbon fiber airbox and high performance filter, a custom air inlet panel, 82mm throttle bodies, more aggressive camshafts, ported and polished cylinder heads, ECU with updated software, stainless steel headers,  performance exhaust system, a 100% locking limited slip differential, fully customizable sports suspension system, Renntech’s Stage 3 Performance Braking Kit, and carbon fiber stabilizer bars for both front and rear.

In case you’re scratching your temple on how Renntech came up with the 74 badging, let’s just say that it’s purely based on the width of the rear wheel track, which measures 74 inches. This allowed the rear drive axle to be able to accommodate up to 11-inches of rims and 315 mm tires.

Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without its host of carbon fiber exterior enhancements, not only to make it look meaner but to make it behave a lot better on the road. These consist of carbon fiber rear decklid spoiler, front splitter, rear diffuser with integrated exhaust tips, 3-piece forged aluminum wheels and Nitto INVO performance rubbers.

Price of the performance package? $11,900. Not bad eh?

C63 AMG Concept 358 to grace Australia this October

You just gotta’ love the color of this Mercedes-Benz. The vibrant and powerful orange paint brings the C63 AMG into life at the Australian International Motor Show. For two years, Mercedes-Benz refrained from participating in the country’s grandest auto show, but now returns with quite a vengeance. Their show car, a special edition C63 AMG dubbed the Concept 358, was designed exclusively by Mercedes-Benz Australia and is handcrafted by AMG.

As with anything that rolls out of AMG’s workshop, this one truly stands out. It’s actually the only C63 AMG in the entire universe that’s been painted with Designo Pearl Orange finish, sourced exclusively in AMG’s Affalterbach factory. The car also features an AMG Performance Package Plus that upped the stock 6.2-liter V8′s power from 457hp to 480. That’s a lot if you happen to know the math.

Highlighted on the Concept 358 is the Performance Package Plus 19-inch multi spoke rims in black finish, as well as a generous helping of Designo leather fixtures inside the cabin. If you’re going to imagine what kind of driver this car would have, he or she probably appreciates mind-numbing power while sitting comfortably in a posh interior.

Interested? Then come experience the Concept 358 at the Australian International Motor Show this October.

New C-Class rounding the Nurburgring

It’s been a while since we last wrote about the facelifted C-Class. Well, here’s the saloon variant making rounds on infamous Nurburgring. In case you’re wondering, this is the track that gave the new CLS is first ever recorded crash, as well as the SLS AMG GT3′s first fiasco on a track on its racing debut. You can see that this test car has been lightly disguised to reveal subtle visual enhancements up front, most notably taking cues from the brand-new E-Class range—the headlamps, the well-contoured bonnet and the redesigned bumper.

Now, if you peek at the rear end, you’ll find even less enhancements, limited to the bumper and the taillights. What matters more is what’s going to be sitting under the hood. The engine options will probably be modified versions of the current four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, plus an optional seven-speed automatic tranny from the conventional five-speed gearbox. Meanwhile, the 3.5-liter V6 that’s currently powering the C350 CGI will most probably make way for a reworked version from Mercedes-Benz’s new family of MoVe engines.

Now, if you’re eager to see the enhanced C-Class Saloon and Estate variants, then you have to make plans for being present at the Detroit Motor Show come January next year. Because, there will be another highlight apart from the two—the new C-Class Coupe—to succeed both the CLC and CLK. This Coupe will probably be the basis of the new C63 AMG model, which is aimed to rival the BMW M3, and maybe even a Black Series for hard knocks. Just don’t expect a Cabrio, folks.

Romeo Ferraris transforms the Mercedes C63 AMG

Yet another tuning company plays around with the ever-so versatile Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. And this time, it’s none other than Italian tuning corp Romeo Ferraris. Nope, it’s not Enzo Ferrari’s brainchild, but this company sure does know its way around making cars more awesome. Why is that? Well, simply because they have connections with the racing scene. Simply put, they know what they’re doing.

What they did is add a completely new exhaust system to the 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated engine. They also remapped its ECU, bumping up the power from 457hp all they way to 540hp. This shaves off about half a second from the vehicle’s zero to sixty sprint, making it just barely 4 seconds. Zero to 200 km/h takes just merely 12.5 seconds. Top speed? Over 300 km/h. You had to ask.

At first glance, you’ll notice the 18-inch Arcasting GTR alloys. Those are racing wheels you’re looking at folks, weighing merely 10 kilos each. And those tires are Yokohama Advan Sports. The car is riding on racing shock absorbers with ride height adjustability (compression, extension, calibration) and of course, lowering springs that puts it 50mm closer to scraping the road. Finally, safety comes in the form of Brembo six-pot calipers for both front and rear.

Yes, we know you’re eager to put yourself in the driver’s seat. But for now, just drool at the photos.
