2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe “production-ready” prototype

Spy shots of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe shows that this prototype isn’t just shorter C-Class, but has some fresh lines that give the coupe a very sporty look. It features the quad-foglamp design on the slightly refreshed front fascia, now becoming common to the M-Benz range of cars and the rear with LED running lamps and taillights.

Reports say that the power plant will still be the same as that of the 2010 model, the 3.0-liter 228HP and 3.5-liter 268HP V6 engines. The twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 and the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter engines of the C63 AMG Coupe could be an option for this C-Class Coupe. Why not?

Definitely the interiors of this 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe will have new designs that could be similar to that of its siblings in the E-Class range. The manufacturer has dedicated design studios specifically for the interiors of their cars and they’re really good at matching the exterior looks to interior layout.

Though it’s still almost a year from now, the 2012 C-Class Coupe “production-ready” prototype could be introduced in early auto shows by next year. James Bond movie makers might just take a closer look at this especially if it comes in a dark color shade.

Leaked image of facelifted C-Class

It’s been a while since the C-Class first showed its face to the world—a world which gave it such a long, warm welcome. That is why Mercedes-Benz is working hard on facelifting their much-loved saloon to please the millions of C-Class fans.

The entire process of upgrading the C-Class is now in its advanced stages, and auto journalists armed to the teeth with spy cameras just couldn’t help but sneak a peek at what Mercedes-Benz is working on. So, without further ado, we give you this leaked image of what the facelifted C-Class would look like.

As you can see from the photo, restyled headlights would be the main enhancement, while a redesigned front bumper is complemented by an equally fresh looking bonnet. The rear end, meanwhile, gets a reworked bumper of its own plus, of course, a set of brand new taillight designs.

Inside, the cabin will get some fresh new interior fixtures, but nothing monumental. The only change that’s worth noting is the shift from five-speed to a seven-speed transmission. The engine, meanwhile, isn’t really set for a big change either, or at least none that we’re currently aware or certain of.

Hey, what really matters is that the facelifted C-Class will make its first appearance most likely in the city of Detroit come January 2011. And it’ll be bringing along a new member to the C-Class family, namely the new C-Class coupe. So if we were you, we’d be booking our plane tickets to Detroit in advance.

Spy photos of the proposed C-Class Coupe

In case you’re wondering, yes Mercedes-Benz has indeed said yes on a new C-Class Coupe. They say its set to joint the rest of the gang once the current C-Class expires, making way for a replacement. To back it up, here are new spy photos of an orange crash test coupe that show brand new details of what the C-Class Coupe may look like.

If you look closely at the base of the C-pillar, you’ll notice that there’s an ascending line that’s quite a stark difference from Mercedes-Benz’s current models. Apart from that, nothing really certain right now. Wait, there is. Some of the photos also suggest wide wheel arches, deeper character line along the sides and, of course, Mercedes-Benz’s new headlight designs.

None other than Mercedes-Benz CEO for United States Ernst Lieb confirmed that their company is indeed planning on adding to the C-Class lineup to be able to go head-to-head with fellow German rival BMW, which already has sedan, coupe, convertible and wagon types of their 3 Series. This new lineup will be tailored for a target market that’s not crazy about the E-Class and S-Class.

If things turn out as imagined, the C-Class Coupe will join the rank of the E-Class Coupe. As for what engine it’s going to get, we’ll bet that it’s the same for the rest of the new C-Class platforms. Of course, there will be an AMG-powered variant that’s likely to feature the 5.5-liter V8. But for now, only time will tell.

Spy Photo: 2012 Mercedes C-Class Coupe

spyshots 2012 mercedes c klasse coupe 22843 1 597x398 Spy Photo: 2012 Mercedes C Class CoupeLast week, German carmaker Mercedes-Benz summarized its plans to release at least 20 new auto models in the next five years. Their plan is to continue and, if possible, intensify their present sales levels. These large number of models would include new releases, modifications and variants of existing car models. The new 2011 Mercedes C-Class Coupe would place into that last group. With the public release date of the said variant still to be announced, the coupe version of the C-Class is intended to provide the class the same selection of models as the E-Class. Unlike the coupe version of the E-Class, this model would not be modified individually, but will be mostly based on the saloon version.

The said version would include comparable front end, taillights and rear bumper. What will obviously change are the centre-section and the roofline. This would mean that the doors and windows will be modified as well. As with the engines, the latest C-Class coupe will utilize the same units as the ones used in the saloon, which are four or six cylinder petrol units running in between 156 and 292 hp and diesel engines having outputs in between 136 and 231 hp.

A semi hybrid version, utilizing a 20 hp electric motor, is also reportedly geared towards production. There are also rumors about a plug-in version of the model, and its 60 hp electric motor engine. With regards to the price, the model is likely to be much cheaper that the four door version, as it is directed towards the customers of the existing C-Class coupe semi-hatch.

Insider Spy: Very, very close rendering of the C-Class Coupe

We know you’re all waiting for word on the C-Class Coupe, Mercedes-Benz’s supposed replacement for the CLC. Well, fortunately, a friend of ours (a real-life insider) was kind enough to give us the latest tidbit about the much anticipated Coupe. He (or she) seemed to have car-gasms when talking about the new model, revealing that it’ll be sporting L-shaped headlights, just like what you see on the existing CLS and SL models.

Our ally, who goes by the name ‘Real Insider’, was so generous as to leave a link to Motor Authority’s website, where the rendering, according to him/her, is “very, very close,” and that he/she “was very impressed” that Motor Authority was able to find it. As with all the scoops that we bring you, this is as real as it can get, folks.

Again, the C-Class Coupe is set to break cover as early as June or July next year, so keep your eyes peeled. Hopefully, it’ll be a strong match against fellow German rival BMW’s 3 Series.

So check out the link, guys and gals. It looks to be the closest you’ll ever come across this early in the C-Class Coupe’s development (and speculation) process. One thing’s for certain, though—as long as you’re around to read (and share) information on anything and everything about Mercedes-Benz, we’ll be here to write about it. Hat tip to Real Insider!
