Never falling short of international awards, Mercedes-Benz has just received another prestigious trophy for their MBSA production plant down in East London. The plant, which manufactures the C-Class for both the local market and export to the US, has actually won the same award once before. The award, bestowed by none other than JD Power and Associates, is actually based on their US Initial Quality Study, or IQS for short. Mercedes-Benz has won the award by beating its own previous record. It’s unanimous. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is Germany’s most attractive car, according to a poll by AUTO BILD magazine. Daimler AG’s super car received the most votes, beating its sister, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet to the top spot. Meanwhile, it was the Mercedes-Benz F 800 Style that won for the concept cars category. For five years running, AUTO BILD, Germany’s best-selling car magazine, ran a poll for which car appealed the most to their readers. Both large luxury cars Hyundai Genesis and the Mercedes E Class were awarded the 2010 top safety pick awards by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This award distinguishes top vehicles that gets the best rating of good for front, side, rollover and rear crash protection. People should learn how to take car surveys more seriously, especially if it was conceived by the most authoritative name in the automotive survey industry, JD Power. According to them, customers’ buying behaviors are still heavily governed by decades-old views of what car brands are reliable. The renowned Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture and Design has given three Mercedes-Benz models a singular honor by presenting the E-Class, the E-Class Coupe and the SLR Stirling Moss with the GOOD DESIGN Award – the oldest award for outstanding product design.
