A 24-Year Epic Road Trip with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class Ends

  Gunther Holtorf finally reached the end of his 24-year long trip using the same vehicle, that is his trusty old Mercedes-Benz 300GD with the nickname “Otto”. According to Mail Online, Otto traveled around 556,000 miles, including boarding 113 deep-sea ferries and staying in 41 ocean shipping containers. The epic journey is a clear display of the resiliency of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Mercedes Sales Spike in the Asian Market

Mercedes-Benz sales were looking great in the first half of 2014. According to Wall Street Journal, the sales of the brand in the early six months of the year spiked up to 13 percent worldwide. The success was attributed to the strong demand in China and other emerging markets in Asia for luxury cars. WSJ said Mercedes sales numbered 783,520 units in that period. Notably, sales in June increased by 8 percent from a year earlier to 142,136 cars. Daimler Trucks Asia Ship First India-made FUSO Units, On Pace for ‘Asia Business Model’ Targets

It looks like Daimler Trucks is successfully implementing its ‘Asia Business Model’ plan, as the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck  and Bus Corporation and Daimler India Commercial Vehicles are on pace to achieve its joint target of 290,000 units in sales by 2020.
