The renowned Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture and Design has given three Mercedes-Benz models a singular honor by presenting the E-Class, the E-Class Coupe and the SLR Stirling Moss with the GOOD DESIGN Award – the oldest award for outstanding product design. In the previous two years, the jury for the GOOD DESIGN Award also recognized the high design quality of Mercedes-Benz automobiles by presenting the award to the GLK and the C-Class.

Four Mercedes-Benz models have the lowest depreciation in their segment, and can justifiably call themselves the “Value retention champions 2010” – the E, C, S and R-Class. These are the findings of analyses carried out each year by the Saarbrücken-based market research institute Bà¤hr & Fess Forecast on behalf of the motoring magazine “Auto Bild”. Mercedes-Benz vehicles are therefore generally have the highest value retention, and offer a significant economic advantage. It was only a matter of time before Hollywood gave us the sequel, so this is definitely not a surprise. What might be surprising is that Mercedes-Benz has chosen the E-Class Convertible (Cabrio) as the official car this time. It seems that they are going after the right audience, as most of the former CLK convertible drivers were in fact women (no offense to any male drivers). Whether as a Saloon, Coupe or Estate variant, the new Mercedes E-Class has the highest value retention of any luxury segment model series in Germany. In three years time these models will command the highest resale values in their segment, according to a prognosis by the independent market research institute Bà¤hr & Fess Forecast. This one again confirms the high value retention of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Over the weekend, I had the pleasure to see the new 2010 E-Class Coupe on the road while driving around town (Bellevue, WA). I spotted theÂ E350Â a couple hundred feet away, mostly because of the very very bright LED taillights. I had only a few moments to get my phone out and snap a pic before he drove off.
