Hamilton wins Malaysian GP; Rosberg second for Mercedes one-two finish

This is how dominant Mercedes AMG Petronas could be this season. In a true show of force, Lewis Hamilton dominated the 2014 Malaysian Grand Prix and Nico Rosberg came in at second place to secure the first one-two finish for the team this season, and at one of their home races at that. Mercedes-Benz to double Beijing plant capacity

As demand continues to soar for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, parent company Daimler is set to invest some more into its Beijing factory in order to double production capacity. According to a Bloomberg report, Daimler and its JV partner Beijing Automotive Group will invest a whoppping 1 billion euros (around $1.38 billion) for the expansion that will see the plant produce up to 200,000 vehicles in 2015. The Beijing facility currently produces Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class, and GLK vehicles. The sedans, in particular, are enjoying great demand. Hamilton takes pole for Mercedes AMG Petronas at Malaysian GP

Heading into the Malaysian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton was focused on one thing: get his title bid back on track, in order to put the disappointment of what happened at the Australian GP behind him. Mercedes-Benz Vans Wraps Up Successful 2013 Business Year

Mercedes-Benz Vans just concluded a very successful 2013 business year, with the division growing earnings by 16 percent overall, up to €631 million (around $870 million). This was despite volatile and ever-changing conditions in the various markets all through last year. Sales grew 7 percent from 252,400 in 2012 to 270,000 in the previous business year. Revenue also went up by 3 percent, from €9.07 billion ($12.5 billion) to €9.37 billion (around $12.92 billion). Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) went up by 16 percent as well. Mercedes-Benz Wins Six Categories in 2014 Motor Klassik Award

In the 2014 edition of the Motor Klassik Award, Mercedes-Benz managed to get wins in a whopping six categories, showcasing the continued excellence of the brand in a variety of aspects. The Silver Arrows race cars, the 1934 W 25 and the 1954 W 196 R, took a double victory in the ‘Racing Cars’ and ‘Auction Cars’ categories. In the ‘Classics up to 1930′ category, the Mercedes-Benz SSK sports car bagged the victory, while the 300 SL “Gullwing” Coupé (pictured) took the win in the ‘Classics 1947 to 1961′ category. F1: No need to replace Hamilton’s engine for Malaysian GP

The inaugural race of the 2014 Formula One season ended in a resounding victory for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team thanks to Nico Rosberg, but Lewis Hamilton had to shut off his engine prematurely to make it a bittersweet opener in Melbourne. Mexico venture in the works for Daimler and Nissan?

According to a Reuters report, Daimler, the parent company of automaker Mercedes-Benz, has signed a new pact with Nissan, which will involve the creation of a new joint venture in Mexico that will produce new vehicles for Mercedes and Nissan’s Infiniti brand. Sources have said that the deal at this point entails Nissan manufacturing the next-gen GLA at the company’s Aguascalientes facility, which is also set to produce new Infiniti models. This would extend the cooperation between the two automotive companies, as Mercedes-Benz already has an existing pact with the Renault-Nissan Alliance, with engines, plants, and automotive platforms and technologies being shared between the automakers.
