When you own a Mercedes-Benz, you take good care of it. You don’t keep your car in excellent condition only to find it burning in your own driveway one night. To the horror of an 18-year-old girl in Ingleby Barwick, in England, that’s exactly what she saw from her bedroom at around 1:30 in the morning. The deed was caught on tape, with a shady man walking up to the back of the Mercedes-Benz, tampering with it, and setting it ablaze before running out of sight. Check out the video below: According to the owner, the vehicle was her ‘pride and joy’. She had the car for just a couple… Continue Reading »

In a move that is expected to help the team, Mercedes has swapped around several members of its drivers’ crew personnel. There are several differences between the Silver Arrow cars this season. The decision was made by the team to swap number one mechanics for 2016. New personnel turnover also paved the way for other swaps. There are no changes to the engineering personnel, however. Nico Rosberg praised the moves, saying that it can only help both drivers. “It’s good for the wider strength of the team to move people around and not have them become focused on a single car or driver,” said the German, who has come in second… Continue Reading »
Mercedes’ engine has dominated Formula One since the introduction of the new power unit setup, but it isn’t leaving stones unturned. The engine supplier has alerady spent 19 of the 32 engine development tokens allocated to it as per the new rules, second-most among engine builders heading into the season opener in Australia this weekend. The leading token-spender is Ferrari, the foremost challenger to the defending champs, the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team, this season. Quite a number of infamous names are among the known owners of the Mercedes-Benz W100 600, a precursor to what we now know today as the S600, and GQ ran a piece that seeks to provide us with the reasons why such people would opt for such a car. One of the nicknames of the Mercedes-Benz 600 is ‘Großer’ or ‘Grosser’, which means ‘larger’ in German. Not only is it a big car, it’s also quite expensive. It was, after all, the flagship and hence the most spare-no-expense Mercedes at the time. We all know cost is prohibitive, so the epic MSRP of the 600 at the time pretty much limits the prospective… Continue Reading »
Mercedes-Benz delivered the 3,000,000th Sprinter van to Bad Walsee, Germany-based camper van manufacturer Hymer AG, setting yet another milestone for Daimler’s incredibly successful commercial vehicle. Since Mercedes-Benz established its large van segment way back in 1995, the Sprinter has indeed come a long way, spawning a wide range of variants from the utilitarian to the premium. The van is versatile enough to be tapped by companies like Hymer to turn into camper vans. “What’s more, for our partners the Sprinter provides the perfect base for a wide and varied range of bodies, from ambulances to luxury motor homes,” said Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Volker Morhinweg, who was at the press event to present the… Continue Reading »
We’re not set to see the production model of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class until sometime in 2017 or 2018, but now reports have surfaced that the 4×4 pickup could make an appearance at the 2016 Paris Auto Show this October—at least, we could be shown a prototype.
If you’ve been bored to death by the dominance of Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 in the past couple of years, don’t worry. The Mercedes drivers recognize it, too, and in line with that, they think that the new rule tweaks in the sport set to go live this year should make races more exciting for those in the stands and watching at home.
