Rosberg wins Belgian GP; Hamilton goes from back row to podium

In the first race back from the mid-season F1 break, Nico Rosberg won the 2016 Belgian Grand Prix, snapping a four-race skid that saw him relinquish the points lead to Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton. eanwhile, Hamilton took third place despite starting the race from the back row. Mercedes-Benz to get cool new €1B plant in Kecskemét, Hungary

Daimler is set to invest a whopping €1 billion ($1.1 billion) to build a new Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét, Hungary. The planned facility is expected to generate some 2,500 jobs in the area. Of course, that’s when the plant starts producing vehicles, which is estimated for sometime around the end of this decade. Initial preps for the facility will start sometime within the current year. This will be the second Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét. The company has already announced a new round of investment in order to expand as well as upgrade the existing facility. Hamilton wins 2016 German Grand Prix

A disastrous start at the 2016 German Grand Prix cost Nico Rosberg three places right away. Then off went Lewis Hamilton to his sixth win in seven races. Rosberg actually managed to fight back into a battle for P2. Halfway through, however, he drove Red Bull’s Max Verstappen off the track, a maneouver for which the stewards slapped Rosberg a five-second penalty. The German wasn’t too thrilled at that, with some very tough remarks at the end of the race. “Without the penalty I was in front of the Red Bulls; with the penalty I couldn’t challenge them.” Of course, maybe Rosberg should remember not to run people off the track next… Continue Reading »


F1: Hamilton wins Hungarian GP, takes lead in championship race

Things are starting to heat up now. Lewis Hamilton took home the victory at the 2016 Hungarian Grand Prix, and in doing so, also takes the lead in the F1 drivers’ championship race for the first time all season. Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg fought hard until the end but had to settle for second place despite starting from pole position. Rosberg led the pack since race one, and now finds himself 6 points behind Hamilton. The good news is he’s headed back to Germany after this, and should have a strong outing at his home race next weekend. F1: Hamilton wins third straight British Grand Prix; Rosberg finishes third

Lewis Hamilton displayed fine form in his home race Sunday, taking his third-straight British Grand Prix victory over his teammate Nico Rosberg and thus shaving more points off the deficit in championship points. The win drove wild some 135,000 fans who were on hand at Silverstone. Rosberg’s lead in the drivers’ standings has now been cut to a mere point, after an investigation for radio correspondence between him and the team led stewards to slap Rosberg with a 10-second time penalty. British Grand Prix: Hamilton qualifies in pole ahead of Mercedes front row

Add one more Mercedes front-row qualification to this year’s list. Lewis Hamilton drove a superb qualifying at the British Grand Prix as he edged out Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg for pole position. Hamilton posted a time of 1:29.287, around a third of a second better than Rosberg’s, for his third-straight pole and his sixth overall this season. It is the 55th pole of his career, and his fourth at Silverstone. Rosberg also escaped being slapped a penalty after stewards cleared him of any fault after he drove too slowly at one point during qualifying. F1: Hamilton, Rosberg could face suspensions for future collisions

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are locked in a tight battle for the 2016 Formula One driver’s championship, and it doesn’t help one bit that they are teammates. Competition between the two have led to some ugly crashes and unnecessary contact in the past, and now the two could face fines or even suspensions from Mercedes if they are to collide in a race again.
