German car maker Daimler AG said Tuesday that unit sales at it’s Mercedes-Benz Cars division totaled 96,600 vehicles in February 2008, an increase of 18% from the figure recorded for the same month last year, 82,000 units, setting a new benchmark.
In addition, deliveries of Mercedes-Benz, AMG, smart, and Maybach brand vehicles over the first two months of the year rose 17% to the record level of 187,000 units, compared to 159,700 in the first two months of 2007.
The Mercedes-Benz brand also set a record in February by posting a sales increase of 13% to 87,800 units worldwide compared to 78,000 in February 2007.

Combined Mercedes-Benz and smart sales up by 28.9%

TORONTO, ON (March 3, 2008) – Mercedes-Benz Canada reported today that a record-breaking total of 1,390 units were registered for the month of February. On the Mercedes-Benz side, a monthly record of 1,196 units were delivered, representing a gain of 212 units or a 21.5% increase compared to February 2007 while we saw a year-to-date growth of 23%. A total of 194 smart fortwos were reported sold in February, up by 106.4%. The combined Mercedes-Benz and smart sales showed an increase of 312 units or gains of 28.9% for the month and 33.5% on a year-to-date basis.

Mercedes-Benz performance tuner Brabus will debut in Geneva their C-Class based Bullit Black Arrow. This is a 720 horsepower beast produced by a Brabus biturbo V12 engine with a 974 ft-lbs of torque. It goes from 0-62 mph in 3.9 sec and has a top speed of more than 225 mph. The performance upgrades include an aluminum hood with ventilation slots, Brabus wheels fitted with high-performance tires as well as a modified five speed transmission, a locking rear differential, improved brakes and an adjustable rear suspension. The interior is loaded with leather and custom sport seats. Price starts at 348,000 Euros…
