Warning: Be Careful of Some Meet-and-Greet Services at Airports

Meet-and-greet services at airports may seem to be a good idea if you want to avoid all the hassles associated with looking for a safe parking space for your luxury vehicle. However, a recent investigation exposed some unruly practices of valets employed at several companies offering meet-and-greet services. According to a Mail Online report, an investigation conducted by a consumer watchdog called “Which?” revealed a number of bad practices employed by professional chauffeurs. The probe involved planting surveillance devices on luxury cars which were handed over to valets at airports. The gadgets were fitted with GPS and speed monitors. Among the noteworthy cars observed were the Mercedes-Benz SLK, Mercedes-Benz E250 and Porsche Boxster. The… Continue Reading »

Carlsson Develops Hillclimb SLK For Meisel Motorsport

Carlsson is better known as a tuning firm that produces high-end performance and aesthetic kits for Mercedes luxury sedans. With their announcement of a racer specially developed for international hillclimbs, Carlsson is making it known that they are in the business of developing hardcore race cars too. As the renderings show, the basis for the car will be a Mercedes SLK, hence the company moniker for it as the Carlsson SLK 340. Unlike today’s Mercedes sedans that don’t reflect engine sizes by their badges anymore, the SLK 340 does displace 3.4 liters from its V8. Said V8 will be developing 610 horsepower and around 317 lb-ft of torque. Mated to… Continue Reading »

Vath Mercedes SLK Tuning Kit Released

Although the 2012 SLK is already a pretty nice car as it is, a little bit more is much better, when it comes to upgrades. In this vein, Vath has released its bodykit, performance and interior upgrade lines for the car. As you can see, the body mods include a new front lip and rear diffuser tied together by a lowered suspension riding on 20-inch wheels.  Interior upgrades aren’t as dramatic, with just some carbon fiber trim, new floor mats and aluminum pedals. But the replacement speedometer hints at what the Vath-massaged SLK can offer the driver, as the upper reaches of the 205 mile per hour speedometer can be… Continue Reading »

Geneva 2009: Mercedes-Benz SLK 2LOOK Edition

At the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz is presenting a new, eye-catching special model in the successful SLK series with the model suffix “2LOOK Edition”. This new model variant, which is specifically aimed at a younger target group, is only available in glossy black or lustrous white. This styling touch is harmoniously complemented by a two-tone interior with high-grade materials in dramatic black-and-white contrasts. The attraction of opposites – this is the concept with which the new Mercedes-Benz SLK “2LOOK Edition” special model will enter the new open-top season. The intentional limitation to a black-and-white colour scheme both inside and out lends this successful two-seater with a vario-roof an exclusive,… Continue Reading »

Spy shots of 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLK

The next-generation SLK test mule has been spotted making rounds on a track, prepping for a possible 2010 release date. The 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLK will spot a similar, if not same, hard top folding roof, get some new LED fog lights as well as be similar in design to the new SLC Gullwing in the front. Our friends over at GlobalMotors.net have also noticed that the side mirrors are attached to the doors on this prototype, but that could be only temporary. In terms of engine options, a diesel 2.2 liter 4 cylider twin-turbo may also be available upon launch, and some say that even a hybrid version will available…. Continue Reading »
