From the picture, one can see some likeness in the fascia of the upcoming SL with the Mercedes-AMG GT. Some components of the S-Class are evident too like its LED headlights. Spy photos of the car released earlier also reveal that it will benefit from a redesigned rear bumper, diffuser, and exhaust tips. Look at the MR Car Design Mercedes SLS AMG GT and SL 65 AMG

The Mercedes SLS AMG GT is one of the icons in the naturally-aspirated V8 era. On the other hand, the Mercedes SL 65 AMG houses a V12 devil within its deceivingly stylish exterior. As I was browsing random stuff in social networks, I came across the Facebook page of the German tuner MR Car Design. From there, two of its new posts caught my attention. These featured two beautifully made shots of the Mercedes SLS AMG GT and Mercedes SL 65 AMG. The details about the two are very scarce. It also appears that no information about the products are available in MR Car Design’s official website yet. But these two looked customized at some point. Based… Continue Reading »

China Exclusive: the Carlsson C25 Super GT Limited Edition

Renowned Mercedes-Benz tuner Carlsson has created yet another masterpiece—the SL-based C25 Super GT Limited Edition—but don’t get yourself excited just yet because this new baby is set to go on sale only in China. The car is powered by Carlsson’s V8 engine that should give it around 450 horsepower. As some might note, this doesn’t really compare very well to the 753-horsepower engine in the SL600. Of course, there are new elements in this model to aid in getting more performance out of the car, such as the ultralight carbon fiber body that shaves of some 397 pounds compared to the base model. In addition, there are redesigns all around… Continue Reading »

A Day in History: The 1989 Mercedes-Benz SL R129 series

Modern, elegant, dynamic and yet clearly part of a great tradition: the SL Roadster from Mercedes-Benz was one of the biggest sensations at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1989. This sports car (model series R 129) first appeared in the 300 SL, 300 SL-24 and 500 SL variants, with several models being added in subsequent years through to the SL 73 AMG in 1999. The R 129 was the fourth generation of the SL-Class since the legendary gull-wing Mercedes-Benz 300 SL of the 1950s. In 2001, the 129 model series was replaced by the 230 series.
