Prototype Of 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet Spotted

It appears that Mercedes-Benz is in a hurry to increase its luxury vehicle lineup with the launch of the W205 C-Class sedan and estate, which will be followed by the C-Coupe that is set to be unveiled by November. The luxury vehicle with the codename C205 will be followed by the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet, which is expected to be launched near the start of next year, as indicated on an autoevolution.com report.

The autoevolution.com report also shows that a prototype of the new C-Class Cabriolet, which carries the codename A205, was spotted being tested in Spain. While the prototype appears to be completely camouflaged, a few details are rather noticeable. Among the details noted is the use of a folding fabric roof, which is made possible with recent developments in the industry. These developments allow 3-layer canvas tops to provide the same comfort and warmth as an actual roof.

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet is expected to use the same Modular Rear Architecture platform that is currently being used on the sedan model. This platform is used by ten different models, including the upcoming E-Class, which gives the new luxury vehicle a pedigree it can be proud of.

Judging from the video, it appears that the new C-Class Cabriolet may feature an air suspension, a feature currently available as an option for the sedan model of the C-Class. It allows vehicles to gently roll over bumps along the road. While the engine is not as quite as powerful as the ones offered by its rivals, it does enhance the comfort offered by the vehicle. Soundproofing is expected to be taken to the next level by engineers of the German luxury vehicle manufacturer.

The A205 is incomparable since no C-Class Cabriolet is currently being offered by Mercedes. If the sedan variant is taken into consideration, the powertrain of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet is expected to be strong and light with a solid and refined feel to it.
