Military-Spec 1992 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Restored and Tuned to Perfection

Giancarlo Perlas October 4, 2019

One of the favorites of tuners in the automotive world is the Mercedes-Benz G-Class because of its versatility and undoubtedly strong presence. One tuning firm called the Expedition Motor Company gave a 1992 military-spec model of the vehicle a go, and the result was nothing short of awesome.

It should be noted that the Expedition Motor Company is celebrating its 40th anniversary. With that, they have chosen to restore and tune a military model 1992 Mercedes-Benz G-Class 250GD to highlight the momentous occasion.

According to the company, they have devoted nearly 1,000 hours for the restoration and tuning process. Basically, they have rebuilt the auto from the ground up. The end result was a product more appealing than its original version.

The military-spec G-Class here features an open-air driving feature with a soft top. It is finished in Mojave Silver paint and given new headlamps with projector lenses as well as LED taillights. It is also fitted with special accessories like a new front grille, front winch, bumpers, and large wheels wrapped in fat all-terrain BFGoodrich tires.

Under the hood of the G-Class rests its original 2.5-liter diesel engine but it now comes with upgraded pistons, seals, water pump, and timing belt. This is complemented by a modified gearbox plus new axles and brakes.

Overall, the vehicle costs $90,000, which is reasonable enough since it takes approximately 12 to 16 weeks of work to produce.

Below are the photos released by the tuner that document the whole restoration and tuning procedure of the 1992 military G-Class:
