Mercedes-Benz has a new addition to its fuel-efficient variants. Recently, details of the Mercedes-Benz C350 Plug-in Hybrid was revealed to Auto Express. Petrol Engine and Electric Motor Instead of the 3.0-liter V6 engine found in the Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid, the new version of the C-Class will be using a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine capable of producing up to 208 bhp. Then, the engine is combined with an electric motor to provide it an additional output of 80 bhp. The power of the car is distributed through its seven-speed automatic transmission gearbox. The official 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid commercial was released recently by the luxury vehicle manufacturer, as shown on worldcarfans.com. The latest promotional video released by Mercedes-Benz focuses on the efficiency of the S-Class, which is comparable with a Mercedes-Benz-AMG Formula One vehicle. The video clip is entitled, “The Best.” It highlights the fuel efficient powertrains of the S500 Plug-In Hybrid and Formula One cars. It also focuses on the regenerative braking system that is currently being used on Formula One cars. The third hybrid engine of Mercedes-Benz will be unveiled during the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show through the Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-In Hybrid, according to MSN Autos. Aside from being efficient, the turbocharged V6 engine will make it the fastest hybrid S-Class in the market. However, the electric motor of the S500 Plug-In Hybrid can be decoupled completely from its gas engine. This will make the vehicle a pure zero-emission electric vehicle, which makes it distinct from the current Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid. It appears that Mercedes-Benz could not wait for the Frankfurt Auto Show to flaunt their latest hybrid flagship. The luxury vehicle manufacturer recently unveiled the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-In Hybrid at a recent press briefing. The upcoming vehicle will feature a six-cylinder gasoline engine that offers 333HP of power and 480Nm of torque. The hybrid also comes with an electric motor that uses an 8.7kWh battery, found inside the trunk. The engine provides power to the rear wheels of the car. An executive from Mercedes-Benz Australia confirmed that the Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-In Hybrid will be introduced together with the latest S-Class range during the Frankfurt Motor Show. Mercedes-Benz Australia Senior Manager of Corporate Communications David McCarthy made the confirmation around a month after reports pointed to the possible launch of the vehicle during the event. However, the executive did not indicate if the vehicle that will be launched is a global model. He also did not reveal details on the release schedule of the vehicle.
