There are a lot people who would not miss the opportunity of making quick cash at the expense of others. In this case, we are referring to the person or group responsible for the theft of the medical files of Michael Schumacher while he was confined at a hospital in Grenoble following his skiing accident.

According to UK’s The Telegraph, the medical records of the Formula One legend was reportedly stolen and currently for sale to the media. The source said the set of files are being sold for a sum of €50,000. The documents apparently contain the surgical procedures and other crucial data related to the condition of the seven-time F1 champ during his stay at the medical facility.

It is not yet established if the documents on sale are genuine, or if someone is just looking to cash in from the event. However, the police are currently looking into the matter based on Schumacher’s manager, Sabine Kehm.

The manager of Schumacher warned that aside from the person or group responsible for the theft, individuals who will purchase and publish the contents of the files will face charges in court as well. He explained that medical files are totally private and confidential. Thus, leaking it in public is a serious criminal offense.

Kehm added that they would press criminal charges and damages against any publication that will publish or make references to the contents of the stolen files. The charges will be based on every single instance wherein the contents of the records are mentioned, he pointed out.
