Hamilton wins 2017 Japanese GP

Lewis Hamilton won a relatively tightly contested race at the 2017 Japanese GP, with the challenge coming from an unexpected source. With Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel having issues with his car, and eventually needing to retire, the coast was clear for Hamilton – but Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was not going to just hand the victory to the Brit. Hamilton had to keep Verstappen at bay for a while, and this led to some tyre management issues later on. Still, the points leader managed to pull through with the win. Thanks to the race win and Vettel’s retirement, Hamilton was able to extend his lead in the championship race to 39… Continue Reading »

Hamilton takes first career pole in Suzuka

Lewis Hamilton achieved his first-ever career pole position at the Suzuka circuit, giving him an edge heading into the 2017 Japanese Grand Prix, where he expects another good battle with the Ferrari team. Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas was actually second-fastest in qualifying, but he will be slapped with a five-place grid penalty. This bumps Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel up to the front row. The Red Bulls qualified next, followed by Kimi Raikkonen in the other Ferrari. Raikkonen, however, will also be given a five-place gearbox penalty. It was a record-breaking qualifying session for Hamilton, who shattered the track record of 1:28.95 held previously by Michael Schumacher. He had already been close… Continue Reading »

Mercedes F1 Worried Over the Performance of Valtteri Bottas

The Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team boss Toto Wolff recently expressed his worry with the performance of Valtteri Bottas. However, he still showed his strong support for the partner of three-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton. According to the interview of Wolff featured in Autosport, he found Bottas to be having more struggle in his car compared to his teammate. He explained that the driver’s problem is caused by set-up difficulties in his car, rather than in his abilities. Since changing a driving style is not something that comes easy, Bottas is still on the verge of making adjustments. The motorsport boss of Mercedes believes the Finn will later… Continue Reading »

Hamilton 2nd in Sepang as Verstappen wins Malaysian GP

Lewis Hamilton didn’t win the race, but it was kind of a win nonetheless. It was Max Verstappen who came home with the win at the Malaysian Grand Prix. Hamilton, however, still accomplished what he came to do–extend his lead over Sebastian Vettel in the championship race, with Hamilton finishing second in Sepang and Vettel down in fourth place. Vettel did manage to climb all the way to that spot from P19–an amazing feat no matter how you look at it–but you can rest assured this isn’t much of a consolation for the Ferrari driver. In addition, Ferrari lost Kimi Raikkonen to a turbo problem right before the race began…. Continue Reading »

Hamilton takes Malaysian GP pole

Chalk up another pole position for championship leader Lewis Hamilton. The Brit struggled in the free practices but was amazing when it counted. Hamilton took his ninth pole of the season at the Malaysian GP qualifying session, which no doubt boosts his chances of adding on to his recently acquired lead in the drivers’ title standings. To add some more to Hamilton’s ‘luck’, his main title rival Sebastian Vettel failed to set a time after a power unit problem on his Ferrari. And the German driver just had an engine replacement after he encountered his own issues in the practices. He will be starting at the back of the field… Continue Reading »

Hamilton wins Singapore GP after Ferrari duo crashes out

Lewis Hamilton needed to do something special at the Singapore Grand Prix in order to have a shot at winning the race. Turns out, he needed only to wait. The Ferrari cars were ahead of the Mercedes team on the grid, as were the Red Bulls, which were sandwiched between the two red cars. A crash between Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen, and a great-starting Kimi Raikkonen eliminated most of the Mercedes rivals right off the first corner. Soon enough, it was Hamilton leading the race with Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo and the other Mercedes driven by Valtteri Bottas right behind. Those would be the first three retirements in a race that… Continue Reading »
