EQS 580 4MATIC: Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen Plant’s 22 Millionth Vehicle

Giancarlo Perlas February 13, 2023

The Sindelfingen plant of Mercedes-Benz just rolled out its 22 millionth recorded vehicle from its assembly line. This came in the form of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC electric vehicle.

The Sindelfingen plant of the German luxury car maker has certainly gone a long way since its establishment in 1915. The first to be produced there was the Mercedes-Knight 16/45 hp tourer, but it won’t be until 1946 that the automaker would begin recording the numbers of the vehicles made in the factory.

With that, it’s safe to say that the 22 millionth vehicle of the Mercedes Sindelfingen plant is already way beyond this point. Regardless, the EQS 580 ceremonial car is a good display of the success of the three-pointed star marque in the industry over the years.

Here is a quick look at the key features of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC:

Design

The design of the EQS breathes sophistication and performance in the way that its curves and body indentations are masterfully carved. The milestone vehicle in question, the EQS 580 in hyacinth red, certainly takes the game up with its intense color theme and aerodynamic form.

The EQS comes with a wheelbase of 126.4 inches which translates to more legroom, especially for the rear passengers of the EV. It is also complemented by 22-63 cu ft of cargo space for added utility on demand.

Tech

There is no shortage of technological advancements within the cabin of the EQS. It houses the MBUX Hyperscreen that combines a 12.3-inch LED instrument cluster and two Organic LED (OLED) touchscreens with sizes of 17.7 inches and 12.3 inches, respectively, in a seamless layout.

Likewise, the car has a plethora of driver assistance programs. These are highlighted by its Car-to-X communication, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, and Active Braking Assist systems, among others.

Comfort

For comfort, the five-passenger cabin of the EQS features a mashup of dynamic and relaxing elements in its various trims, namely the Premium, Exclusive, and Pinnacle. All these help ensure the optimum experience for its driver and passengers.

Among the EV’s standard features include high-end perforated leather seats with special stitching, heating system in the seats with memory, head restraints, panoramic roofing, dual-zone automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel, voice control, Burmester 3D Surround Sound, ambient lighting, wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity, and more. These can be further enhanced with the various trims and optional packages of its maker.

Performance

The EQS 580 is powered by dual permanently excited synchronous (PSM) electric motors. These provide the car with a total output of 516 hp. A single-speed automatic transmission assisted by Torque Shift aids in managing the power going to the all-wheel-drive system of the EV.

The setup allows the auto to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph with utmost ease in just 4.1 seconds. It lets the vehicle attain an electronically-capped max speed of 130 mph, too.

The car is equipped with an advanced 107.8 kWh battery. It is capable of achieving a range of up to 340 miles at full charge under optimum driving conditions. This can be conveniently charged for only 31 minutes in a DC fast charging station or 11.25 hours at an AC port.

Price

All the mentioned features of the EQS 580 are available for customers starting at $125,900 in the US. The figures can easily go up depending on the trim and add-ons installed upon purchase though. Furthermore, the numbers do not include yet the fees for the shipping, taxes, and associated fees with the delivery, insurance, and registration of your vehicle.
