What do you get when the producer of the world’s most luxurious cars and one of the fastest growing low cost manufacturer of automobile crosses? The resulting offspring would be the Denza EV. According to ChinaCarTimes the Denza EV is the result of Daimler and BYD’s plan to create another brand of luxury electric cars that would cater to the Chinese market and to the international market later on. Daimler Looking into Sale of Li-Tec Battery Joint Venture

Daimler AG together with partner Evonik Industries AG are considering selling Li-Tec Battery GmbH, a joint venture that isn’t really very profitable. The companies’ efforts to find another owner to join up have been in vain, which is why it is now considering a sale. Li-Tec Battery, based in Dresden and formed in 2008, makes Li-Ion battery cells meant for use in automobiles as well as other industrial applications. The company develops and makes its own batteries. It was seen as a good way to provide batteries for future electric vehicles produced by the German automaker. Tesla Supplies Motor for US-bound B-Class Electric Drive

Mercedes-Benz has enlisted the aid of Tesla Motors, the electric car and electric powertrain designer and manufacturer based in Silicon Valley, to provide the 135-horsepower electric motor of the all-new Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive, which was announced at the New York Auto Show this past week. The car is expected to be out on the US market sometime in early 2014.
