Renntech Introduces New Tuning Package For The Mercedes-AMG SL 63

According to Renntech, the latest tuning package for the AMG SL includes an ECU tune with new throttle mapping, modified ignition timing, and optimized air-to-fuel ratios. Professional installation is recommended by the specialist, and it claims that the tune can be easily reverted back to stock.
Performance Upgrade
The upgrade brings a significant power increase to the AMG SL 63, taking its horsepower to 721 and torque to 748 pound-feet. This means a whopping 144 hp and 158 lb-ft boost on the stock configuration of the base car.
It should be noted that the base model of the AMG SL 63 already produces 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 196 mph. Although Renntech does not mention the resulting acceleration time of the tuned roadster, it’s guaranteed to cut the car’s original 0-62 mph sprint time significantly.

The package costs $3,840, excluding taxes, in the United States. This seems like a fair price considering that the new AMG SL 63 base model costs $178,100 before the destination charges, dealer fees, and optional equipment.
