Mercedes-Benz G400d Gets An AMG-fied Look From delta4x4

Giancarlo Perlas March 3, 2023

In the US, there’s only the Mercedes-Benz G500 before the AMG versions of the G-Class. However, on the other side of the Atlantic, buyers of the Geländewagen have an option for its diesel variant, the G400d. Recently, delta4x4 gave a sneak peek of its work-in-progress package for the said trim, and everything is looking great so far.

The new project of the tuner will likely make one mistake the G400d for an AMG G63. That’s because delta4x4 provided it with all the key design elements found in the high-performance version of the G-Wagen.

The key highlight of the custom G400d is the replacement of its front grille’s horizontal louvers with the signature Panamericana front grille featuring vertical slats found in full-fledged AMG vehicles. The same grille is painted in black as well as the three-pointed star logo sitting on it.

Next, the vehicle benefits from a bull bar up front to protect its bumper. The fender flares are also slightly extended by 3.2 inches for a more muscular look while a lift kit is added for an extra two inches of ground clearance. The other highlights of the auto include the roof bed with LED lights, new pair of side-mounted exhaust tips, and stocky 22×10.5-inch wheels in black finish.

There’s no mention yet about the engine configuration of the delta4x4 Mercedes-Benz G400d. If the specialist decides to skip the engine tune though, the 3.0-liter turbodiesel straight-six power unit of the G-Class is already enough to dish out 325 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The numbers are good for a 0-62 mph sprint in just 6.4 seconds and top at 130 mph similar to the G500.
