Mercedes-Benz CLE Convertible Spied Cruising On Snowy Roads

Giancarlo Perlas February 12, 2023

The Mercedes-Benz CLE continues to make sporadic appearances in its coupe and convertible forms. Recently, the top-down version of the car was spotted testing on snowy roads.

The CLE is poised to fill in the void that will be left behind by the coupe and convertible models of the C-Class and E-Class. As such we expect the car to embody luxury and tech elements similar to its predecessors.

Just like the last time, the new spy shots from Motor1 show the CLE with heavy camouflage. The car in question here noticeably has a fabric for a roof, which hints that it may get a soft top similar to the new SL. Meanwhile, the single louver on the front grille indicates that we are certainly looking at the standard Benz version of the auto.

Another notable feature peeking from the covers of the CLE prototype is the pair of headlamps that appear to be sporting LED eyelids functioning as DRLs. Furthermore, it looks like it will be heavily based on the fashion statement of the current C-Class but with a touch of the E-Class to make it distinct from the mentioned range.

The level of camo and the lack of an official statement from Mercedes about the prototype limit our ideas about the car only on speculations. However, the most probable scenario is that it will carry the same tech and powertrain offerings found in the latest C-Class.

With that, the range-topping model of the all-new Mercedes series might share the same 2.0-liter electrically-assisted turbocharged four-cylinder engine found on the AMG C63. This should enable it to easily achieve at least 671 hp.

The upcoming base models of the Mercedes-Benz CLE will likely make its world premiere sometime this year having a 2024 model-year designation with the AMG variants coming in at a later date.
