Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1 Spied on Track

Giancarlo Perlas November 6, 2022

The next-generation Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is underway, and recent spy shots just confirmed that. A new set of photos show a camouflaged version of the high-performance car hinting that this may most probably be a model under its Edition 1 series.

Typically, Mercedes’ formula for new generation cars starts with the limited-edition series called the “Edition 1”. It usually combines the sporty and striking body style and accents provided by the Night Package, which comes as a standard in this specific model but is offered as an optional add-on in the other models of the three-pointed star marque. The special features in the Night Edition vary from one range to another.

In this instance, the AMG GT in the spy shots displays a strong indication that it is an Edition 1 trim. Primarily, it has a large rear wing, which will unlikely be in the base trim of the car. Then, there are the gold brake calipers possibly hiding carbon ceramic brake calipers underneath. Moreover, it appears to be riding on 20-inch wheels wrapped by a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires.

There are no official details available about the powertrain of the upcoming AMG GT, or the Edition 1 in particular, as of yet. However, it may no less than adopt the same four-cylinder hybrid system found in the AMG SL 43. Furthermore, since the Edition 1 shown here is expected to be under the AMG GT 63 trim of the range, the most it could get is no less than 577 hp and 590 lb-ft coming from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 powerplant.

At this rate, the Mercedes-AMG GT Edition 1 will likely make its world premiere in the coming months.
