Three Trims for Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV Unveiled

Giancarlo Perlas October 2, 2022

With its cutting-edge, opulent cabin, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV provides a high level of sophistication, connectivity, and comfortable seating for up to seven passengers. Its 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and smart OFFROAD driving mode also make it ideal for going through light and rough terrains. Recently, its maker unveiled the three trims of the auto that will soon hit dealerships.

According to Mercedes-Benz Group Media, the EQS SUV will be initially offered in three trims, namely the EQS 450+, EQS 450 4MATIC, and EQS 580 4MATIC. These are highlighted by the following:

1. Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+

The EQS 450+ features a rear-wheel-drive system and is powered by permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM). It is capable of producing up to 265 kW and 568 Nm of torque.

The rated voltage of the vehicle is 396 kW while its usable battery capacity is pegged at 108.4 kWh. Meanwhile, the battery can be juiced up in a DC fast-charging station for 31 minutes wherein a mere 15-minute charge can give it a max range of 250 km. At full charge, the estimated range of the SUV is 540 to 671 km based on WLTP figures and 305 miles on EPA numbers.

2. Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 4MATIC

The 450 4MATIC has the same specs as the EQS 450+ except that for its use of an all-wheel drive system. Furthermore, a full charge of its battery allows it to cover up to 511 to 610 km range based on WLTP tests and 285 miles on EPA tests.

3. Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC

Last but not least is the EQS 580 4MATIC. With the same electric motors powering the other two trims, this all-wheel-drive trim produces up to 400 kW and 858 Nm of torque. The rest of its specs are almost the same as the EQS 450 except that its max WLTP range is cut down by a kilometer.

Others

The trims featured here for the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV only apply to its German versions. As the norm with Mercedes, these usually differ from its US specs. Other trims may also follow, including a high-performance variant from AMG.

We will surely update our coverage of this model once more official or insider info from the German luxury brand is available.
