Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan Gets More Range from Brabus

Giancarlo Perlas August 14, 2022

Brabus recently unveiled its new aerodynamic package for the Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan. It does not offer any power upgrades but it does provide a significant raise in its electric range.

The new Brabus aero package improves the drag coefficient of the EQS to 7.2 percent, which is responsible for lowering the car’s driving resistance a lot. That contributes to the increase of its electric range between 380 to 457 miles based on the European WLTP cycle. Likewise, the same enhancement boosts the top speed of the auto by seven percent to achieve up to 60 to 87 mph.

The upgrade is highlighted by a body kit consisting of a new front lip spoiler, redesigned front bumper with huge air intakes on the sides, new wind deflectors on the fenders, restyled rear diffuser, and a new boot lid spoiler. These are topped off by Brabus’ signature 22-inch Monoblock wheels in “Platinum Edition” rims and shod in 255/35 and 295/30 tires for the front and back, respectively. Moreover, the package is completed by the German tuner’s SportXtra air suspension module that lowers the car by 0.6 inches for the front and 0.8 inches at the rear.

The EQS starts at €111,134 in Germany or $114,090.72 based on prevailing exchange rates. If bought with the new Brabus package, the numbers go up to €173,890 ($178,516.34).

Although the extra range is definitely a welcome addition, the design and integration of the body kit has somewhat received mixed reactions from the public. Some say Brabus’ work only shows that aftermarket tuners aren’t ready for EVs yet while others are commenting that it’s downright ugly.
