Will There be a Mercedes-AMG EQE 63?

Now that we have the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 and EQE 53, there have been questions as to whether or not the three-pointed star brand is looking to follow them up with the Mercedes-AMG EQE 63. An interview with the range’s lead engineer gave us the answer that we were looking for.
According to the interview of Jens Huser during the launching of the AMG EQE in France, the three-pointed star marque has no plans for a 63-badged trim for the EV. However, he did hint that there will be certain lineups in the EQ branding that will benefit from such a powertrain, which we suspect will be the EQS or the production version of the Vision AMG.
The Mercedes exec explained that the AMG 63-badged trims are reserved for track-capable cars, and he doesn’t consider the EQE at that level. Thus, the AMG EQE 53 will remain as its range-topping trim.
It should be recalled that the same formula is used by its rival, BMW. The German automaker’s M Performance models are marketed for everyday drives while the M powertrains are exclusively-made for the circuit.
Be that as it may, the AMG EQE 53’s dual PSM is already capable of producing up to 626 hp and 950 Nm of torque. It can even reach up to 687 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque if fitted with the optional Dynamic Plus package. Meanwhile, the AMG E63’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 only peaks at 603 hp and 850 Nm of torque. Therefore, the consideration of the subject appears to be just a matter of marketing perspective and not performance-wise.
