Looking after your Mercedes-Benz car is expensive, particularly during winter. However, here are some tips you can follow to reduce the time and cost of car maintenance throughout the cold season.
Make sure you’re fully insured
When you get an auto insurance quote, it’s important to know what the policy covers. You don’t want to overpay for things you’ll never need to use. Equally, you want to ensure anything that could go wrong is covered by your policy, or this will end up costing you much more than you save.

Check your antifreeze
Checking your antifreeze levels throughout winter will ensure you can top these up before they start to run low. Otherwise, you may only realize it’s low when you need to use it!
Even if you don’t run low, your antifreeze should be changed every few years as it can go bad. If you notice steam in the engine, a strange smell, rust in the antifreeze or leaking underneath your car, it might be time to change your antifreeze.
Have an emergency kit in your trunk
Although you probably do everything to keep your vehicle running smoothly throughout winter, sometimes problems can happen. If you do break down, it’s important to stay warm, especially if there’s nothing you can do to fix your car as you wait for help. As winter is much colder, it’s important to be prepared for being stuck in your car during bad weather.
Having an emergency bag can help you get through this. Your bag should include blankets, a portable phone charger, a map, a first-aid kit, extra medication for any existing medical conditions, de-icer and scraper, jumper cables and a flashlight. Remember, it’s always best to be prepared!
You may be able to solve a smaller problem yourself, but if not, at least you can be prepared for waiting for help to arrive.
