Mercedes-Benz A-Class Getting a Facelift Based on Spy Video

Giancarlo Perlas August 5, 2021

The fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class is only three years old, but spy shots already suggest that it is about to unveil a facelifted model. A new spy video further confirms that it is indeed getting a minor cosmetic update.

The facelifted A-Class revealed by walkoARTvideos on YouTube shows the hatchback with partial zebra camouflage covering its fascia and rear portion. The hidden areas hint that the car will likely get the thinner headlamps and taillights sourced from the C-Class wagon. Meanwhile, the dents on the sides of the bumper wrapping mean that it might feature larger vents on those parts.

We can’t say exactly what’s going on in the interior of the upcoming model, but we think it will also get updates based on its bigger sibling, the C-Class. With that, it will probably feature a large central touchscreen console with an upgraded version of the MBUX infotainment system.

There are no visible exhaust pipes at the back of the A-Class, but may just be obscured by the dark underside of the vehicle. Moreover, the spy video is only angled at the right side of the auto, but it clearly shows that it carries a charging port opposite the fuel tank similar to the spy shots we saw not so long ago, which means that it’s a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

We don’t have information about the powertrain of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz A-Class yet, but there are rumors that it will ditch the 2.0-liter inline-four engine from Renault in favor of the larger and more powerful units its maker and Geely are co-developing in China.
