Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz C-Class Spied with Only Little Camo Left

Giancarlo Perlas November 9, 2020

Although it was axed from the US dealerships of the three-pointed star marque, the next-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class is still a go in the other parts of the world, particularly in Europe. New spy shots of the car emerged again, and this time, it was seen with minimal camouflage, which gives us a better look at its exterior.

The C-Class just underwent a mid-cycle refresh in 2019, but just after the facelifted model was released, prototypes for the next-gen model, including the wagon and the new All-Terrain models of the range, surfaced online.

Based on the spy shots of Carscoops, the size and proportions of the upcoming C-Class appear the same as its outgoing model. However, the next-gen model looks lower and sportier than its predecessor. Mercedes also lived up to its promise that the car will get S-Class tech.

The spied next-gen C-Class only had its front and rear covered in camo. Similar to the latest Benz cars, the exposed areas of the auto show cleaner and smoother surfaces. The new look favors “sweeping angles” and reduced body lines in consonance to the brand’s Sensual Purity design language, which aims to play with onlookers’ emotions.

The spy shots reveal that the headlamps of the S-Class have made their way to the C-Class as well. In addition, the interior benefits from the Mercedes flagship car’s latest MBUX infotainment system and fully-digital cockpit as shown in previous spy shots.

For the powertrain, we expect that the next C-Class will keep the current 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine of its predecessor. However, it will likely be partnered with a mild-hybrid system or the EQ Boost to augment its acceleration and peak output. As for its AMG models such as the Mercedes-AMG C53, the range will probably adopt the same mild-hybrid setup but with higher specs instead of the present Mercedes-AMG C63’s V8 unit.
