Mercedes-Benz G-Class Gets a More Luxurious Facelift From Carlex Design

Giancarlo Perlas October 30, 2020

The iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class sport utility vehicle takes a new look thanks to Carlex Design. After the Yachting Edition of the model released by the company sometime in April this year, the new project elevates the Gelandewagen once more with its Racing Green Edition.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Racing Green Edition is highlighted by its dark tang of emerald green paint job, which is inspired by British racing green. The paint is applied by hand by the specialists of Carlex Design. It also gets a contrasting gold accent on its lower area plus wheel cover accessory and roof that both come in carbon fiber. Then the cosmetic enhancements are topped off with 22-inch graphite wheels complete with golden brown brake calipers. Of course, the vehicle is adorned with Carlex Design logos and Racing Green Edition badges as a reminder that we are not simply looking at a regular Mercedes G-Wagen.

Going inside reveals interior upholstery that complements the exterior elements of the SUV. The two-tone interior showcases the same emerald green and golden brown theme. It features emerald green fabric and black floor mats as well as golden brown leather in the dashboard, steering wheel, upper door panels, grab handle, center console, and seats. Special black stitching further amplifies the styling of the seats.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Racing Green Edition does not offer any engine boost but the subject in the photos that utilize the Mercedes-AMG G63 platform is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that peaks at 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. All that power goes to an all-wheel-drive system and distributed via a nine-speed automatic transmission. The setup lets the stock version of the high-performance SUV achieve 0-62 mph in just 4.5 seconds while its top speed is electronically-limited to 137 mph and 149 mph if fitted with the optional AMG Driver’s Package.
