Mercedes-AMG A45 In Its Final Testing Prior To Official Unveiling This July

The new Mercedes-AMG A45 high-performance hatchback is scheduled to make its official unveiling this July. A new spy video surfaced showing the car is in its final testing phase before its maker finally strips its camouflage to the public.

At the recent 24 Hours Nurburgring, we were treated to an official live preview of the upcoming Mercedes-AMG A45 through the Mercedes-AMG A45 Concept Drive, which can be seen in the gallery below.

For us, the Concept Drift shows the true embodiment of the AMG DNA in an A-Class car. While the Mercedes-AMG A35 provides a taste of the three-pointed star brand’s high-performance division, the AMG A45 is the best that the A-Class range has to offer in the hot hatch segment.

The Concept Drift is highlighted by its Panamericana grille, which is something that the A35 is lacking. The most potent A-Class also wears a larger diffuser and four exhaust tips instead of its lower trim’s two. These seem to be very evident beneath the covers of the spied AMG A45.

The icing in the AMG A45 can be found under its hood though. Sitting there is the same 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine of the AMG A35, but the output of the unit is cranked up to 382 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Sources say that the car is getting a more powerful variant too in the form of the AMG A45 S capable of 416 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

Sadly, the AMG A45 hot hatch will not be available in U.S. Mercedes dealerships. However, customers in the territory will still get a taste of the A-Class through the car’s sedan version, and some elements of it will be carried over to the AMG CLA45 as well.
