Here’s the New Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Spy Video

Giancarlo Perlas April 26, 2019

It appears that the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series project is in full swing. A car, which is presumably the most powerful variant of the AMG GT range, was just witnessed making its rounds at the Nurburgring track.

Prior to this, spy shots of what was claimed to be the AMG GT Black Series have been circulating online. The speculations were further fueled when AMG CEO Tobias Moers replied with the word “Yep” when he was asked about the possibility of having a Black Series version of the AMG GT. There were hints too that it will arrive sometime in 2020.

Now that the said deadline is drawing near, a new video surfaced showing a fully-camouflaged sports car that resembles the AMG GT R. The vehicle is also highlighted by two exhaust pipes on each side of the rear. The exhausts are hidden behind the rear diffuser, which is one of the key design features of the AMG GT 4 race car.

Further examination indicates that the prototype is very light and agile. We are yet to see more aerodynamic elements on the car’s exterior though.

The AMG GT Black Series is expected to take the Porsche 911 GT2 RS head-on in the market. Powering the high-performance Mercedes will most probably be the 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine found in the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. With that, it will be capable of producing at least 603 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. There is a strong possibility that the numbers will go up to 700 hp if its maker decides to adopt a hybrid powertrain for the auto featuring Mercedes’ EQ Boost.
