2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA35 Shooting Brake Spotted at the Nurburgring Track

The second-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake was just unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Now, spy shots of the car’s high-performance version are circulating online. We just got hold of a video showing what is believed to be the Mercedes-AMG CLA35 Shooting Brake, which you can watch above.

According to reports, the CLA Shooting Brake will be available in two AMG variants. It will be offered in CLA35 nd CLA45 guises.

Why This is the Mercedes-AMG CLA35 Shooting Brake

We have a good reason to think that we may be looking at a Mercedes-AMG CLA35 Shooting Brake here because of its dual circular exhaust tips. It should be noted that the more potent versions of AMG cars like the 45-series models have quadruple tailpipes.

Another hint is on the radiator grille of the car. The prototype in the video displays a single bar design on the sides of the three-pointed star logo. Models bearing the 45 designation have multiple vertical slats called the Panamericana grille.

Powertrain

Basing on the Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan, which is closely related to the AMG CLA35 Shooting Brake, we expect the vehicle in the spy shot to be bearing a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine. It should have at least 302 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. It is most likely partnered to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission system.

Meanwhile, the more powerful AMG A45 Shooting Brake is projected to get around 400 hp output.

Availability

Sadly, since the U.S. is not offering the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake, customers there won’t be getting this gem from AMG.
