Mercedes me Reaches More Markets With Australia, New Zealand, Thailand

Giancarlo Perlas January 25, 2019

Mercedes’ online portal called Mercedes me is trying to reach new markets after Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand joined the fray since the start of the year. So far, the platform is available to 45 countries. More countries are preparing to welcome Mercedes me.

To determine which countries will get the online portal, Mercedes needs to study the technical, legal, and commercial aspect of activating this platform in certain countries.

The European market, in particular, has welcomed Mercedes me with open arms. The music streaming service Tidal is now available via the platform. Tidal is the first music streaming service to be integrated into the platform. Tidal will come for free for the first 12 months after purchasing a new Mercedes-Benz. With the right configuration settings, Mercedes me will be fully integrated into vehicles with MBUX. It will also respond to drivers when they say “Hey Mercedes” by playing the drivers’ favorite song.

Tidal streams almost 60 million titles and boasts of its CD-quality audio. This is a higher level of audio quality compared to other music streaming services that use greater compression.

Those who bought an A-Class, B-Class, and the new GLE will also be able to order optional equipment online in the car via the Mercedes me Store. Even after the vehicles have been delivered, customers can get their hands on the Digital Radio, the Smartphone Integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), and Navigation. Customers, however, are required to connect to the Mercedes me Store with a working data connection. The optional equipment will then be activated via the Store or online.
