Watch the Custom-Wrapped Mercedes-AMG GT R Do a Half-Mile Run

Giancarlo Perlas October 11, 2018

The Mercedes-AMG GT R is presently the most powerful road-legal car of AMG in the market. However, the arrival of new models like the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door and Mercedes-AMG One to dealerships is about to dethrone the car from its position on top of Mercedes’ performance division. Still, it never fails to impress us because of its impressive features.

The video above shows an AMG GT R with a custom look. According to its description from Gumbal, the exterior of the vehicle was wrapped, which completely hides its Magno Green Hell paint. Nevertheless, the solar yellow color in front paired with an urban camo wrap in the rear presents a nice touch to the high-performance car.

The video, as well as the description, does not tell us much about the subject. What it tells us though is how fast the Mercedes-AMG GT R can go on a half-mile run and its max speed while doing so.

The first attempt shows the car conquering that distance in 19.052 seconds with its top speed at 250.34 km/h. The second shot does not display the time but it says that the car reached 251.39 km/h. The numbers on the third run are not available due to the video getting cut abruptly but there appears to be a little hesitation on the vehicle’s part on the get-go.

Right now, the pricing of the AMG GT R begins at $157,000 in the U.S. Equipped with a 4.0-liter AMG V8 biturbo, the auto produces 577 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes-Benz USA claims that the car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. Lastly, it has a top speed of 198 mph or 319 km/h, which is clearly underutilized by the car in the video.
