Mercedes-AMG GT3 Laureus

A special example of the race track-exclusive Mercedes-AMG GT3 Laureus is up for grabs. Collectors will have a chance to own the race car at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction held on August 25, 2018.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Laureus has never been raced yet. There is no reserve price for the race car when it goes on the block but it is expected to fetch between $400,000 to $600,000 during the auction. The proceeds of the sale will go to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation that helps disadvantaged children in 40 countries.

Design

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 comes with “AMG”, “Laureus Sport For Good Foundation” and “50 Years AMG” letterings. The exterior makes heavy use of carbon fiber components making it very light. Then it is finished in a special, mirror-like chrome paintwork. Other notable elements include a large rear wing, performance exhaust system without mufflers and 18-inch AMG forged light-alloy wheels.

Inside, the cockpit of the GT3 features a black finish that also utilizes carbon fiber. It is fitted with a passenger seat too.

Performance

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 is equipped with a 6.3-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine. The unit produces 650 hp and it is distributed via a six-speed competition gearbox.

Complementing the dynamic performance of the race car is its competition brake system with adjustable ABS and traction control. Meanwhile, the removal of the exhaust mufflers provides an excellent way to enjoy the sweet noise coming from the auto’s naturally-aspirated power unit.
