Mercedes-AMG CLA35 Spy Shots Surface

Giancarlo Perlas August 22, 2018

A few days ago, we have witnessed the Mercedes-Benz CLA while undergoing testing at the Nurburgring track in Germany. Not long after, the Mercedes-AMG CLA35 model of the range was also seen on the road.

The prototype is unmistakably a CLA because its roofline, nose, and stance all bear a striking resemblance with its ongoing model. However, compared to the one we saw earlier, the subject of the spy shots here sure looks like a high-performance model of the class.

Although most parts of the vehicle are covered in camouflage, the front grille of the prototype suggests that it will have vertical slats. That’s the same Panamericana grille design carried by the Mercedes-AMG GT. Other hints include its large air intakes on the front bumper, rear diffuser, and quadruple exhaust tips.

It is should be noted that each exhaust pipe possesses a circular end. Therefore, the auto is most likely the Mercedes-AMG CLA35, because the current practice of its maker has the range-topping AMG models fitted with square-shaped exhaust tips similar to the styling of the current Mercedes-AMG CLA45.

Going back to the front grille, since the car is most probably a low-end AMG model—being a CLA35—the source thinks there might be a single-bar installed there. The Panamericana design is possibly reserved only for the range-topping model of the range in the form of the CLA45, or as rumors have it, a CLA50. That’s the same treatment seen on the Mercedes-AMG C43 and C63 units.
