Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe Caught Testing at the Nurburgring Track

Giancarlo Perlas July 21, 2018

It won’t be long until Mercedes-Benz starts the deliveries of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe to customers, so the automaker is testing the sports car extensively to make sure that it meets consumer demands.

Recently, the high-performance vehicle was caught in a video while it was making its rounds during the Industry Pool at the Nurburgring track in Germany. The AMG 63 4-Door certainly looks amazing at the straights and bends of the circuit. Turning up the volume will also let you appreciate the amazing engine note coming from its exhaust system.

Powertrain

The AMG GT 63 4-Door is powered by a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine capable of delivering 577 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. The output is distributed to all four wheels via a wet-clutch nine-speed automatic transmission. The setup lets the car run from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 193 mph.

The more potent form of the sports car, the AMG GT 63 S 4-Door, brings the output up to 630 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. With the same nine-speed automatic transmission governing its power, it can cover 0-60 mph in mere 3.1 seconds, and it has a max speed of 195 mph.

Design

Despite belonging in the AMG GT lineup, the 4-Door Coupe is more closely-related to the CLS. The architecture of the car gives it more passenger room than the 2-door AMG GT Coupe.

The AMG GT 4-Door can accommodate up to 5 people, including the driver, while the earlier AMG GT Coupe can only hold 2 people. With these given facts, it is more practical for a family guy to drive the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe than the regular AMG GT Coupe, making it an ideal family sports car.
