Mercedes-Benz Unimog In Finland Transformed Into A Food Truck

The Mercedes-Benz Unimog is one impressive-looking vehicle that can be used in over 1,000 ways depending on the needs of the owner. One U 318 model of the Unimog was converted into a mobile kitchen in Finland, as shown on a report from motor1.com.

The Unimog offers incomparable off-road capabilities allowing it to go just about anywhere. It is also capable of dealing with the most extreme environments making it the ideal vehicle to use in the frigid weather in Finland. This was likely the idea of entrepreneur Sami Repo who turned a Unimog into a food truck.

The U 318 model of the Mercedes-Benz Unimog of Repo features a barbecue oven, which was imported from Spain, capable of holding up to 400 kilograms or 881 pounds of food. The mobile kitchen also comes with a gas stove, work surfaces, wash basin and a number of cooking utensils as well as a water boiler made of copper.

The rear wall of the interior of the customized food truck of Repo features an old school presentation board showing images of whales giving it a Finnish theme. The outside rear wall features wooden panels with a tarvia or natural tar surface that acts as waterproofing.

The food truck of Repo is used in a number of corporate and public events along with birthdays. Some of these events were organized during the harsh winter months of Finland. Repo considers the Mercedes-Benz Unimog as a “truck for life” and is considering the acquisition of a crane for forestry work.

Another thing the entrepreneur is considering is fabricating a motor home body for the Mercedes-Benz Unimog to allow him to go on long road trips.
