Mercedes-Benz Continues to Raise Sales with Double-Digit Growth in October
Giancarlo Perlas November 7, 2015Daimler reported that Mercedes-Benz increased its global sales by 10.1 percent to 155,189 vehicles in the month of October. The brand has reportedly continued to perform well in China amid the economic turbulence plaguing the country. Other countries that showed better sales during the period were Germany, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Canada, Russia, Taiwan, and Switzerland.
From the start of 2015 up to October, the three-pointed star marque sold 1,531,541 units. Compared to the record set within that same time frame of the previous year, the numbers are 14.6% higher.
Including the smart units of Daimler, which saw an increase of 103.4 percent to 10,517, the combined sales of the two for October are 165,706 units or 13.4 percent higher based on a year-on-year comparison.
Ola Kallenius, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and head of the Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales, revealed that the company already went past the unit sales achieved in China last year. The sport-utility vehicles of the brand proved to be the most in demand products in the giant Asian country. The GLK, in particular, was its best-selling SUV, so the company expects the GLC to be received with the same warm welcome in the area.
China grabbed the highest sales last month with 33,088 units delivered to customers while USA displayed 28,952. The former grew by 42.9 percent compared to the same period the prior year while the latter was only 1.3 percent more. The European region sold a total of 65,390 units, which had a 7.8 percent increase from the same month of the previous year.
