1974 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL Auctioned

While the Mercedes-Benz 450 SL is considered as an impressive luxury vehicle, it was not flawless when it entered the market. Despite its flaws, some luxury vehicle enthusiasts may still in the market for a stock model of this luxury vehicle. For the next few days, a 1974 model of the 450 SL is currently being auctioned by Bring a Trailer, as indicated on an autoevolution.com report.
The auction website showed that the 450 SL was a “long-time Southern California car” and sold in South Pasadena and delivered on the 8th of October 1974. The odometer reading is at 49,000 miles or 78.857 kilometers. In fact, a stamped service booklet verifies the mileage of the vehicle as well as show it was maintained properly.
One thing impressive about this particular unit is the fact that the interior appears untouched. The seller has claimed that all the features of the 1974 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL are fully functional, including its Behr air conditioning system. All components of the cabin are original, from the upholstery, dash wood veneers and carpets.
The exterior of the 1974 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL is covered with Byzanz Gold color option, which is considered a bold factory color. While the seller cannot verify whether the paint job is original, all the information plaques and stickers show no indications of re-spraying. Overall, the exterior looks impressive with the exception of some minor dents.
This 450 SL features a 4.5-liter V8 engine with a three-speed automatic transmission system. The seller also said the steering, suspension, brakes and limited slip differential are all working properly. While the 1975 and 1976 model of the 450 SL experience occasional vapor lock as well as hard restart due to the position of their catalytic converter, it does not apply to the 1974 model of the luxury vehicle.
The current bid for the 1974 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL being auctioned at Bring A Trailer is at $5,500 and potential buyers only have a little over two days before the auction ends.
