Video: Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet Spied

Giancarlo Perlas June 2, 2015

We have been seeing a lot of spy photos of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet recently. It sure is something to get pretty much excited about. But wait, there’s another convertible in the works in the three-pointed star factory.

A few days ago, a YouTube user named walkoART, shared a spy video of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet. If there was something that would top off the C-Class Cabrio or the S-Class Coupe, this should be it.

Of course, expect the S-Class convertible to be carrying the body of the S-Class Coupe. However, the covered areas indicate that there may be something going on in the lighting system and bumpers of the car in addition to its retractable roof, which is bound to be awesome.

According to Digital Trends, the car will likely carry over the engine options found under the hood of its coupe relative. That means the S550 convertible might get the 4.7 biturbo V8 engine with 449 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The power will be distributed through its automaker’s standard seven-speed automatic transmission gearbox and it will be mated with the 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

The range-topping AMG S63 variant of the cabriolet will also grace the lineup, which is certain to be equipped with the brand’s 5.5-liter biturbo V8 power unit with 577 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque.

The source claimed the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet will have a 2017 model year. As for its debut, the report projected that the car might be unveiled in September this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
