The 2016 Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² has been confirmed for series production.

All signs that Mercedes-Benz was planning to add the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² in its G-Class lineup were laid after it was unveiled to the public. Moments ago, the brand officially confirmed what we have all expected. The vehicle will be included in the three-pointed star’s regular production.

Amid the confirmation, the cost of the unit might be hard for most people to come by. According to Carscoops, the G-Class variant has a price tag of €226,100 in Germany. That is $255,570 in U.S. standards. Speaking of which, a related report from Car and Driver claimed the successor of the Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 is being considered for U.S. production. It should be noted that the 6×6 was not offered by Mercedes-Benz USA before.

The SUV carries a petrol-powered 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine. The unit gives it an output of 416 hp and and 450 lb-ft of torque. These enable the G500 4×4² to go from zero to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds, and build up a top speed of 130 mph.

The ground clearance of the auto is a whopping 17.7 inches and it is fitted with 325/55 R 22 tires. These factors let the 4×4² cross a body of water with a depth of 39.4 inches. Moreover, it features an adjustable damping with Sport mode enabling it to maneuver easily through bends.
