Lewis Hamilton Says His Mercedes Contract Negotiation is a Pain

“A pain in the back side.” That’s how Lewis Hamilton recently described his ongoing contract renewal negotiations with Mercedes is going.

According to UK’s The Guardian, the reigning Formula One World Champion hinted that with the hassles he is facing now in his talks with Mercedes as regards to his new contract, he is contemplating of not taking over the whole negotiation process again in the future.

It should be noted that Hamilton just ended his association with Simon Fuller’s XIX Entertainment sometime last year. As a result, he was left to take over the helm of the whole negotiation process. It was reported that he also dished out fresh terms in the process.

Just after the F1 Malaysian Grand Prix, the Briton noted that his new deal with the team was almost done. Quoting his estimate, he said that it is “99.6%” from materializing. However, delays seem to have pushed it back again because he stated “there are things that still need to be done.”

In Hamilton’s interview with the source, he commented, “There were certain things I didn’t read, I thought it would be quick. Then I realized that there were a lot of things that needed to do. I’m reading parts when I have time to read. You send stuff off and it might take two days to come back. Then you digest it and you send it back. You think about your comments and speak to your lawyer, then you send your comments back. And vice versa.”

Looking at his statements, it might come as alarming to fans because it might cause him to be distracted in his follow up bid to win the title again this year. However, the champ denied such but implied he might find someone to do the whole contract negotiation thing it in the future.
