We have seen how Daimler AG integrated its auto-driving feature in its Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025. A lot of people, the author included, were impressed of the possibilities it can provide to truckers later. However, just imagine the better potentials that the technology can provide to Mercedes cars.

Recently, the three-pointed star brand revealed its new driverless car vision. The concept showed futuristic interior similar to the characteristics of a high-end living room.

“With this visionary interior concept we are defining the luxury of the future,” stated Gorden Wagener, Daimler’s Head of Design. Once again, he and his team did not fail to impress.

The highlight of the driverless car concept was its interior design that was composed of a variable seating system. It was equipped with four lounge chairs, which can be rotated to allow the occupants of the vehicle to face each other for better conversation or collaboration of activities.

“We are convinced that autonomous driving will be a central factor on the way to comfortable, accident-free driving,” commented Dr. Herbert Kohler, the Head of Corporate Research of Daimler. The executive added the auto-drive technology will allow the car’s occupants to be more productive.

It should be noted that despite the technology displayed, which was way ahead of our time, Daimler retained the steering wheel of the future autonomous car. That is to allow the driver to shift to manual driving whenever he or she prefers, or when the situation calls for it.

The exterior of the concept car remains as a mystery as of the moment. According to the people at Daimler, more features of the driverless car will be unveiled at the CES event in Las Vegas.
