Peter Parcon October 31, 2014While the 2015 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT was only unveiled recently, it appears that the 2015-2016 model years of the latest supercar offering of the luxury vehicle manufacturer from Germany is nearly sold out, as indicated on a report from gtspirit.com. Mercedes-Benz made the revelation recently for the sports super car with a front mid-engine layout.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is the second sports luxury vehicle completely developed by Mercedes-AMG. The first model was the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The engine used for the latest supercar offering of the German manufacturer is the 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine from AMG. It offers a 463HP power output in its GT variant while the GT S variant offers a power output of 510HP. The newly-developed AMG engine complies with the Euro 6 standards for emission, which includes the maximum particulate emission level that will become effective by 2016.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h within 3.8 seconds until it reaches its top speed of 310 km/h. The recently-developed V8 engine of AMG uses an innovative technology with its dry sump lubrication along with the integrally-mounted turbochargers. AMG engineers also fettled the sports car with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission system.
The 1,540 weight of the AMG GT is distributed from the front to the rear of the vehicle. It has a 3.3 kg/HP power-to-weight ratio, which is notable for this vehicle class. The fuel consumption of the AMG GT is at 9.3 liter for every 100 kilometers.
The drivetrain dynamics of the AMG GT can be modified by the driver through the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT. Among the modes that the driver can select are C for “Controlled Efficiency,” S for “Sport”, S+ for “Sports Plus” and I for “Individual” mode. The GT S variant of the sports car also features the “RACE” drive program that allows the dual clutch transmission of the sports car to match the needs of racetrack usage. The driver can activate the manual transmission mode of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT using the “M” mode while it is at any drive mode.
