Mercedes-Benz confirmed that Michael Schumacher remains as its ambassador. The decision of the company came despite the current medical condition of the Formula One legend.

It should be noted that Schumacher had an accident while skiing with his son at Meribel Ski Resort in the French Alps on December 29, 2013. The incident left him with a serious head injury, which led doctors to place him in a medically-induced coma.

Luckily, like the fighter that he was during his run as a racer, Schumacher has beaten the odds. Announcement of his recovery came on June 16 this year. Recent reports say that he is still undergoing rehabilitation. So far, no word is available as of the moment regarding his progress, but everyone remains positive about his recovery.

According to Christian Post, the seven-time F1 World Champion continues to have the backing of Mercedes. Aside from the #KeepFightingMichael message in its W05 cars, the company revealed that his contract as ambassador is still honored even if he is in no condition to communicate effectively.

There were speculations lately that Mercedes was reconsidering its relationship with Schumacher. However, Daimler boss Dr. Dieter Zetsche denied such claims in his interview with the Germany-based Bild. He stated that they have given no thought about changing something in his contract.

The CEO of Mercedes’ parent company also expressed delight over the reported development in the condition of their ambassador. He said that he hopes the progress continues.

When asked why Dr. Zetsche wasn’t seen at the hospital where Schumacher was confined following the accident, he replied that he did not visit Schumacher because he respected the need of the patient’s family for privacy.
