Lewis Hamilton was reported “gobsmacked” after a post-race meeting with the people at Mercedes AMG Petronas. That’s because he allegedly learned that his clash with Nico Rosberg was premeditated.

Quoting Hamilton’s interview with Sky Sports, BBC and other reporters in the aftermath of the recent Formula One race, he said, “We just had a meeting about it and he (Rosberg) basically said he did it on purpose. He said he did it on purpose. He said he could have avoided it.” The Briton added, “He basically said ‘I did it to prove a point’.”

Hamilton stated the incident was the reason why Toto Wolff and Paddy Lowe were not happy with Rosberg following the Grand Prix too.

Wolff played down the claim of Hamilton. He explained it was “nonsense”. However, he did admit the part wherein Rosberg mentioned that he could have avoided crashing into his teammate, but he still pushed through just to “make a point”.

It was not clear though what kind of “point” are the people of Mercedes are referring to as Rosberg did not comment about the matter.

On the other hand, Niki Lauda revealed to the press that there was indeed tension boiling in the Mercedes camp. He recommended giving the drivers some time to cool off before the next race.

Going back to Hamilton, he expressed his wariness going to the next F1 racing event after what he allegedly learned from Rosberg in the post-match meeting. The former World Champion claimed he currently does not know how to approach the next race.
